Course Description
This is a one day course designed for new
users of Microsoft Access, and covers all the basic features of the package.
The topics below represent a suggested
course content. However, these can be adapted to meet specific objectives.
Course Contents
Introduction to Database Principles
What is a database? Why we use a database, the best
applications for a database and the basic principles of a database will be
discussed and explained.
Defining Table Structure
Data types and field properties are explained before entering data and
building a table.
- Editing the Structure of a Database
How to change the structure of a database after completion by adding and
removing fields.
- Interrogating the Database through Queries
How to apply queries to an existing database (seek
information) by matching specific conditions and criteria. Additionally, using
and/or linked conditions.
- Relationships
How to relate two or more tables
together. The types of relationship and advantages of linking tables is shown.
- Introduction to Forms
How to design and layout forms, based on the information stored in a
database.
- Reports
How to design a report to enable the
user to extract and summarise information stored in their tables. Printing.
