Course Description
This is a one-day course designed for either new users of Excel
and Windows or for users transferring from other types of spreadsheets, and covers all the
basic features of the package.
Course Contents
- Excel Screen Overview
The different elements of the screen, terminology, dialogue
boxes, default settings and how to move around the Excel environment.
- Worksheets
Entering text and values and how to build a spreadsheet and
creating the different ways of doing basic addition.
- Formatting
How to change the look of characters, bold, italics, underline etc., and also
how to alter the appearance of the spreadsheet by modifying column widths, row heights,
alignment, numbers and adding boxes and shading.
- Automating Tasks
How the Microsoft Excel AutoFill feature will save the user time and effort and
the Format Painter option to copy characteristics in a spreadsheet will be discussed and
demonstrated.
- Formulae
The delegates will be taught how to multiply, divide, subtract and calculate
percentages.
- Charts
How to use the Excel Chart Wizard to produce bar, line and pie charts from a
spreadsheet.
- File Management
Good practice when saving files is explained, also how to print and open files
are demonstrated.
