Presenting A Positive Image

Duration:  1 Day

Course Description

This one day course was designed for people who wish to increase their confidence and self esteem, boost their professionalism and achieve their goals.

The topics below represent a suggested course content. However these can be adapted to meet specific objectives.

Course Contents

  • Roles and Goals

Involves group discussions.  Link between roles goal and mission.  The principle is introduced that someone who has a positive image is certain and confident and this flows from a conscious or unconscious sense of mission and or clear roles and goals.

  • Mission

Why clarity is so powerful.  Mission distils roles and goals into something concise and tangible.  How this gives individuals a greater ability to say no to the wrong things and to say yes to the right things.  Clearly articulating a sense of mission whatever that is, further clarifies the things that are important and also emphasises our unique contribution that enhances our sense of self worth.

  • Failure and Fear

Addresses the incredibly powerful and universal wrecker of confidence and risk taking self worth.  A look at the effects of fears the body’s responses and the minds responses.  What is failure and how do we ‘frame’ it.

  • Self Worth

Identifying the sources of our sense of self worth, how to nurture those areas, and creating and nurturing an atmosphere of self worth.

  • Self Image

Learning how to think of ourselves in at least as good a light as our best advocate.  How to see our weaknesses as strengths.

  • Body Language and Nonverbal Communication

Getting the right perspective on the awareness, use and interpretation of body language, without becoming oversensitive.  The dominant effect of nonverbal communication.  How body language will betray your words if there is a conflict.  Looking at the nonverbals of Face, Posture, Gestures, Tone, Touch, Dress, Surroundings, Timing and Use of Personal Space.

  • Stress and Stress Management

Brainstorming the causes of stress, (i.e. urbanisation, change, technology competition, external to work.)  Explaining Fight or Flight, the way mind and body react to stress.  Knowing yourself, your stress triggers, assessing a stressful environment.  If stress is a permanent state at work or home – can you continue indefinitely?  Taking control.  Radical solutions for balance – transport, location, relationships, job, career etc.  Looking at an annual Stress Cycle and a daily Stress Cycle.  Anti-stress techniques and activities.
